About us

The Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience (NIN) is the national hub for brain research in the Netherlands, dedicated to uncovering how neural circuits give rise to our mental functions—and how these change in brain disorders. By combining insights across humans, primates, and rodents, NIN bridges fundamental and applied neuroscience. Its cutting-edge facilities, including the Netherlands Brain Bank, Primate Unit, Sleep Lab, and Spinoza Centre for Neuroimaging, enable groundbreaking work from molecular to systems-level understanding of the brain.
